A specialist, not a generalist

Vitaly Selickis

Founder & lead engineer, LockMend

I started LockMend because I kept seeing the same thing: customers being told they needed a new door when the mechanism just needed replacing. A failing gearbox, a misaligned hinge, a worn cylinder; these are all fixable without touching the door itself.

I carry parts for every common uPVC, composite, bifold and window mechanism in my van. Most repairs are done in a single visit, with no second trips and no vague timelines.

We do not supply or fit new doors, frames or glazing. This focus means we do one thing, and we do it properly.

Why LockMend

What makes us different

Four reasons customers choose a specialist over a general locksmith.

Repair first, always

We look for the fix before recommending replacement. In most cases the mechanism is the problem, and mechanisms can be repaired.

Mechanism specialist

We do not try to cover everything; we focus on door and window mechanisms deeply, with common parts carried in the van.

Price before we start

You get the price before work begins. Not a vague range, not a surprise add-on, just a clear route before the repair starts.

Local and direct

No call centres, no subcontractors. You speak to Vitaly, and Vitaly does the work across Greater Manchester and Cheshire.

FAQ

Common questions

Can't find your answer here? Call or WhatsApp directly, Vitaly can often diagnose a problem over the phone.

Get in touch
How much does a lock or door mechanism repair cost?

From £75 for standard lock work. Multipoint mechanism and gearbox replacements typically range from £150–£300 depending on the brand and complexity. All prices are fixed and agreed before work begins, so you never get a surprise on the invoice.

Do you charge a call-out fee?

No. There is no call-out fee. We operate a No Fix, No Fee policy. If we can't repair your door or lock, you don't pay for the labour. We'll be clear about what's possible before we start.

Can my door be repaired rather than replaced?

In the vast majority of cases, yes. The most common faults, failed gearboxes, worn cylinders and dropped hinges, are all fixable without replacing the door. We diagnose first and only recommend replacement if the door itself is structurally compromised.

How quickly can you come out?

For emergencies, including locked out, door jammed or a security risk, we aim to arrive within 30 minutes across Greater Manchester. For scheduled repairs, we can typically book within 48 hours. We'll give you an accurate arrival window when you call.

What areas do you cover?

We cover Greater Manchester and Cheshire, including Sale, Altrincham, Timperley, Stretford, Urmston, Wythenshawe, Hale, Flixton, Ashton on Mersey, Salford, Bowdon, Partington and surrounding areas. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, just call.

Do you carry parts on the van?

Yes. We carry hundreds of gearboxes, cylinders, handles and mechanism parts for all major brands, including Fuhr, ERA, GU Ferco, Winkhaus, Yale, Mila and more. The vast majority of repairs are completed on the first visit without needing to order parts.
