Price variables
The "From" prices above are genuine starting points — most jobs land in the lower part of the range. Four factors can move the final cost upward from the starting price.
Factor 01
A standard euro cylinder costs less than an Ultion or ABS high-security equivalent. Standard parts are the default — if you want a premium brand, we confirm the cost before fitting. The anti-snap standard cylinder is included in our standard cylinder replacement price.
Example: Standard anti-snap cylinder = £75. Ultion high-security = From £120.Factor 02
Composite doors use heavier mechanisms and hinge systems that carry slightly higher parts costs than standard uPVC. Bifold and sliding patio door mechanisms are more complex to strip and refit than standard hinged doors — this is reflected in the higher starting price for those repairs.
Example: uPVC gearbox from £95. Bifold mechanism from £130.Factor 03
A single fault (one failed gearbox) is priced differently from a combined fault (gearbox failure plus hinge drop plus keep misalignment). Combined faults take longer and may require parts from multiple categories. We always confirm the full scope before starting — no hidden extras added mid-job.
Example: Gearbox alone = £95. Gearbox + alignment = confirmed separately before starting.Factor 04
Standard attendance during Every day 08:30–18:30 carries the prices listed above. Out-of-hours emergency callouts — where the property cannot be secured or you cannot enter — carry a surcharge of £30–50 confirmed before attending. This applies to all service areas.
Example: Standard cylinder replacement £75. Same job out-of-hours = £75 + £30–50 surcharge.What you will never pay
Travel to any of our 12 priority service areas is included in the repair price. There is no separate charge for attending, regardless of how far we travel within the service area.
The figure you agree before we attend is the figure on the invoice. If the scope changes, we stop and confirm the route before any additional work is carried out.
If we attend and the repair cannot be completed — wrong parts, inaccessible fault, or a fault beyond hardware repair — you pay nothing. We explain what we found and what the correct next step is.
If we arrive and discover an additional fault that changes the scope, we stop and tell you before proceeding. You decide whether to continue. You are never charged for work you did not authorise.
🛡️ Workmanship warranty
Every repair carried out by LockMend is backed by a 12-month workmanship warranty. If the same fault recurs within 12 months due to the quality of the repair — not a new fault or misuse — we return and reassess at no charge.
Pricing questions
The most common questions about how we price and invoice our work across all service areas.
Yes. All prices include VAT. The price confirmed before we attend is the price on the invoice.
Yes — that is our standard process. We diagnose the likely fault over the phone or from a photo sent via WhatsApp, confirm which parts are needed and whether they are on the van, and agree a fixed price before travelling. You will not be quoted a price for the first time when we are standing at your door. In most cases, the phone or photo diagnosis takes less than ten minutes.
The agreed price is the price. If we arrive and find an additional fault that was not visible or describable before attending — for example, a damaged mechanism discovered beneath a failed cylinder — we will stop and inform you before doing any additional work. You decide whether to proceed with the additional repair. You are never charged for work you did not agree to, and the original agreed scope is completed at the agreed price regardless.
No. LockMend operates on a no fix, no fee basis. If we attend and cannot complete the repair for any reason — wrong parts, inaccessible fault, or a fault that requires a specialist beyond our scope — you do not pay for the callout. We will explain what we found and what the appropriate next step is. There is no minimum charge for attendance.
Four factors determine where in the range a job falls: the parts brand required (a standard cylinder costs less than an Ultion high-security equivalent), the door type (composite mechanisms carry slightly higher parts costs than uPVC), the fault complexity (a single component failure is simpler than a combined fault), and whether the job is a planned booking or an out-of-hours emergency. All variables are confirmed before attending — so the range narrows to a fixed price before we travel.
The 12-month workmanship warranty covers the repair itself. If the same fault recurs within 12 months due to the quality of the repair rather than a new or unrelated cause, we return and reassess at no charge. Parts carry their manufacturer's warranty separately — this varies by brand and component. Wear from continued use, misuse, or a different fault developing after the repair is not covered by the workmanship warranty, but we will diagnose it honestly and quote for any additional repair required.
Call or send a photo via WhatsApp — we'll confirm the fault, the price, and when we can attend. No call-out fee to Sale, Altrincham, Timperley or any of our 12 priority areas.
